What is Self-Esteem Month
Self-Esteem Month is a nationally recognized observance dedicated to raising awareness and promoting the importance of self-worth and self-confidence. It serves as a reminder for individuals to practice self-care, self-compassion, and positive self-talk.
This month matters because it provides an opportunity for people to reflect on their own self-esteem levels and take steps toward improving them. By acknowledging the significance of self-esteem, individuals can work towards building a healthier relationship with themselves, leading to improved mental health and overall well-being.
Unfortunately, many of our communities’ most vulnerable individuals do not have access to the basic necessities that can help them look and feel their best. This makes it difficult for them to focus on their education and overall well-being—but you can help change that.
How Can You Make a Difference?
Get engaged with Empower 7’s Project Self-Esteem Initiative which kicks off next month. We collect donations for self-care products all year long and use these items to create lovingly packed hygiene kits to give to vulnerable youth. These kits provide at-risk teens with basic necessities like deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and more to help them look and feel their best.
Here are some ways you can join this project and truly make a difference in the lives of local youth in North Texas who do not have access to basic hygiene items.
Donate Hygiene Items — We are collecting donations for hygiene items all year long. Find a drop-off location to bring your donations to. Each item donated will be lovingly packed into a hygiene kit that will be given to local youth in need.
Host a Box Drive — Host a box drive to collect donations for hygiene items at your church, organization, or business. Encourage people in your community to make a difference in the lives of at-risk teens who live in our neighborhoods, attend school with our children, and need our love and support.
Volunteer to Sort & Assemble Hygiene Kits — Join the Empower 7 Team that takes all of the collected items and sorts and assembles them into kits that can be donated to local teens in need.
