At Empower 7, mentors play a life-changing role in the lives of vulnerable youth. A mentor is more than a guide. They are a steady presence who listens, encourages, and helps young people discover their God-given purpose.

Many youth navigating adulthood lack consistent support, trusted relationships, and someone who simply shows up. Mentors help fill that gap by offering encouragement, accountability, practical wisdom, and Christ-centered care.

Why Mentorship Matters

Young adults often face overwhelming transitions into adulthood without the support systems many others take for granted. Some are navigating housing instability, education decisions, employment challenges, emotional hardship, or limited family support.

Mentorship creates a consistent relationship rooted in encouragement, trust, and accountability.

At Empower 7, mentors are not expected to have all the answers. They are simply willing to show up, listen well, encourage growth, and walk beside a young person through an important season of life.

Mentor Expectations

As an Empower 7 mentor, you agree to:

Model Christ-like character and integrity in word and action
Build a consistent, trusting relationship with your mentee
Attend mentor orientation and required training sessions
Participate in regular communication with the Empower 7 team
Respect youth confidentiality and maintain healthy boundaries
Encourage progress toward life goals, personal growth, and spiritual development
Support youth within the ThrivePoint framework when applicable
Pray regularly for your mentee and their journey
Communicate concerns related to safety, crisis, or significant life challenges
Participate in periodic check-ins or progress reviews when requested
Serve with consistency, compassion, humility, and accountability

Mentors provide relational support while Empower 7 staff oversee case management, service coordination, safety planning, and program oversight.

This structure allows mentors to focus on building a healthy relationship while ensuring youth receive the broader support they may need.

What Mentors Are Not Responsible For

Mentoring is not about fixing problems or having all the answers. It is about being present, building trust, and helping a young person feel seen, valued, and supported.

Mentors are not expected to serve as counselors, therapists, case managers, or financial providers.

An Empower 7 Leadership Team member will respond within 7–10 business days.
Approved applicants may move forward into interviews, reference checks, background screening, onboarding, and orientation training.
