EMPOWER 7 HOSTS 1ST ANNUAL 5K & 1 MILE FUN RUN
One hundred sixty-nine participants from Germany, Costa Rica, Washington, Arizona, Illinois, Missouri, and right here in Texas joined Empower 7’s inaugural 5K Race and 1-Mile Fun Run on June 26th – either in person or virtually. Proceeds from the event, which was held at Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium, support The Empower7 Ranch building campaign and programs for at-risk teens.
“Our 1st Annual 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run was a huge success, thanks to the support from our sponsors and the dedication of our Event Chair, Vida Valk, and the entire Empower7 team,” said Melanie Cobb, Empower 7’s President and Founder. “Everyone pulled together to make our first 5K one to always remember. We are looking forward to our next 5K in 2022.”
All participants that finished the 5K, 1 Mile or Virtual Race received a finisher medal. Empower 7 gave out 52 trophies to the winners of the 5K for overall male/female, masters male/female, and male/female for 1st/2nd/3rd place for age groups.
5K winners include:
- Katie Armstrong of Dallas won Top Female Finisher – Overall
- Avery Brown of Forney won Top Male Finisher – Overall
- Julie Armstrong of Allen won Top Female Finisher – Masters
- Eddie Freeland of Royse City won Top Male Finisher – Masters
